The best match prediction of Real Madrid vs Barcelona – La Liga October 2022

Benzema vs. Lewandowski – El Clasico hits again in October 2022

On Sunday, October 16th, the whole world of football will hold its breath for the Real Madrid vs  Barcelona match. Eyes will be turned to Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. This is where two powerhouses in one of the most prestigious leagues in the world will battle to see who is number one. We all have been waiting for this UEFA Champions League game for some time now, and it is sure to bring a lot of excitement.

The history of direct battles between Madrid and Barcelona dates back more than a hundred years! The first recorded face-off of the two teams took place on May 13, 1902. The Catalans won 3-1 in the semi-finals of the Coronation Cup. Since then, both teams have faced each other 283 times, 249 of them in stake matches.

Historically, the Royal Club has a better balance, beating Barcelona 100 times. However, if we consider the friendly encounters, the Catalans have more wins, 117 to be precise. The last game of the two clubs took place in July 2022, during their pre-season tour in the USA. Barcelona with Robert Lewandowski in the squad won the match 1-0.

The upcoming El Clasico, though, will be the first league clash in which the captain of the Polish national team will play. Both teams, Real Madrid Barcelona, have had a great start to the season and were almost immediately placed in the top two places in La Liga. Lewandowski, who is considered one of the most effective players in the league, has perfectly acclimatized to the new club.

Fans are already sharpening their teeth for the upcoming battle between Real Madrid Barcelona with another outstanding striker, the main opponent to the Golden Ball, Karim Benzema. This weekend’s El Clasico is taking place at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, where Los Blancos have lost only one La Liga game so far in 2022. It happened in the second half of the last season, back in March. Is it going to happen again?

Bear in mind, this weekend’s Barcelona Real Madrid game is even more important than usual. Both teams occupy the top two positions in La Liga, each with 22 points. Barcelona is performing really well lately. It’s simply because Barca has a better goal difference. Xavi’s boys have scored 20 goals so far while conceding only 1. Meanwhile,  the team led by Carlo Ancelotti has 19 goals scored, and seven conceded.

Karim Benzema to score

Karim Benzema, the winner of the 2021-22 Pichichi Trophy (La Liga top-scorer award), has scored only 3 league goals this season. There is a reason for that. He was off the pitch for several weeks due to an injury. Real Madrid’s no. 9 returned in early October and is still without a single goal to his name this month. Remember though, he has played only for 90 minutes in 3 games. Is it time for him to come back onto the scoresheet? We sure think so!

Robert Lewandowski to score

With 9 goals to his name, Robert Lewandowski is the top scorer in the Spanish league at the moment. The Polish striker has scored at least one goal in six of the eight La Liga matches he has played so far.

We think he is going to put at least one in El Clasico. Not just because he is currently the World’s Top no. 9. It’s also because Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, remains doubtful for Sunday’s game.

If he doesn’t make it into the team, Andriy Lunin will have to go between the posts. He’s managed to keep a clean sheet only 2 times as a Real Madrid player. Even if Courtois returns, he probably is not going to be at his best.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona match prediction

Everyone now bets on this match prediction. Knowing all this, it is only logical to assume that both teams will give us a remarkable performance this weekend. With so much firepower on both sides, Sunday’s El Clasico must result in goals galore. We’ll probably see each team scoring, but which one will score more? Our vote goes to Real Madrid.
